چکیده
Ecosystem accounting is a tool to integrate nature into decision-making in more structured way. Applying the use of nationally available datasets at catchment scale and following System Environmental Economic Accounting-Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA-EA) framework, we present results from case study Ireland, highlighting findings specifically relation development ecosystem extent condition accounts. In absence national map, CORINE landcover mapping formed basic data for type ecosystems, distinguishing woodlands forest, peatland heathland, grasslands cropland urban areas, with limited coverage linear freshwater rivers, hedgerows coastal ecosystems. Additional remote sensing provided higher resolution scale, while site-level survey were available. Condition gathered reporting under EU Water Framework Directive sub-basin level surface waterbodies. Data habitats reported Habitats (59 reported), covering ~ 25% area. types outside these frameworks form ancillary only, providing information on pressures, threats intensity use. Our Ireland reflect work across European region, role gathering stakeholder engagement. We outline some gaps provide future research alignment purpose NCA, both scale.

How the SEEA Experimental Ecosystem Accounting framework could be used for growth accounting and productivity analysis
In light of the ongoing realities of climate change and the increasing demand for food around the world, understanding the capacity of the environment to support agricultural production is of upmost concern. An important part of this understanding is the organization and analysis of information about the link between the environmental assets and ecosystems that underpin agricultural production ...
متن کاملEnvironmental accounting for ecosystem conservation: Linking societal and ecosystem metabolisms
This paper proposes an approach to environmental accounting useful for studying the feasibility of socio-economic systems in relation to the external constraints posed by ecological compatibility. The approach is based on a multi-scale analysis of the metabolic pattern of ecosystems and societies and it provides an integrated characterization of the resulting interaction. The text starts with a...

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of type of players on ecosystem accounting system using structural equations. In total, 84 activists in the field of environmental accounting (ecosystem) were selected through convenience sampling. Subjects filled the 22-item questionnaire of components of actor network and the 25-item questionnaire of ecosystem accounting. Given the fact that the signifi...
متن کاملWealth Accounting, Ecological Capital and Ecosystem Services
This paper develops a methodology for including ecosystem services in a wealth accounting framework. Accounting for ecosystems and their services leads to adjusting net domestic product (NDP) for the direct benefits provided by the current stock of ecosystems but not for their indirect contributions in terms of protecting or supporting economic activity, property and human lives. When ecosystem...
متن کاملDefining Ecosystem Assets for Natural Capital Accounting
In natural capital accounting, ecosystems are assets that provide ecosystem services to people. Assets can be measured using both physical and monetary units. In the international System of Environmental-Economic Accounting, ecosystem assets are generally valued on the basis of the net present value of the expected flow of ecosystem services. In this paper we argue that several additional conce...
